Contraindications

There are several reasons why we cannot perform permanent makeup services  

• Pregnant or nursing 
• Currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Prophylactic chemotherapy is generally safe to proceed but recommend obtaining approval from oncologist. 
• Skin inflammation from certain dermatologic disorders including rosacea, eczema and psoriasis or an active sunburn 
• Have had pervious permanent makeup by other artist that we may consider a major corrective procedure. You will need to submit photos or possibly schedule a consultation before we can perform corrective PMU services  

Medical Conditions  

The following medical conditions require approval from a doctor before permanent makeup services can be performed. Some conditions may require premedication.  

• Fever blister
• Heat disease, coronary stents, and valve replacement
• Prescription blood thinners 
• Insulin dependent diabetes 
• Joint replacement 
• Lupus
• Seizures 
• Organ transplant 
• Shingles or Bell’s Palsy within 1 year 
• Glaucoma 
• Grave’s Disease 

Waiting Periods  

Reasons why permanent makeup services maybe delayed 

• Have received Botox, Dysport or Xeomin injections.  Required waiting period is 1 day.  
• Have used Retin A, Glycolic acid, or vitamin C serums. Have received chemical peels, lasers, IPL, or any time of medical grade skin treatment. Required waiting period is 3 weeks. 
• Have been using a tanning bed or suntanning. Required waiting period is 1 month. 2-3 months for scar camouflage. 
• Have taken full doses of Accutane. Required waiting period is 1 year. You may be able to receive permanent makeup through medical clearance from your doctor if you have been taking a prophylactic or half dose treatment.

Before your Permanent Lip Blush  

• Use Vaseline or Lip balm daily 5 days prior to your procedure to moisturize the lips
• You may use a lip scrub if needed to minimize dry lips.  

Additional waiting periods:  

• History of fever blisters even just 1 in your lifetime. You will need a note from your doctor and premedication before your first visit.  
• Have received fillers (Juvederm, Silk, Voluma, Sculptura, Restylane, etc.) Required waiting period is 4-5 weeks. 
• Have received lip augmentation through fat transfer, implants, or tissue grafting. Required waiting period is 1 month. 

Before your Permanent Eyeliner  

• Eyelash extensions must be removed 1-2 days prior to procedure. You must wait until all PMU is healed before resuming use.  
• Contact lenses must be removed prior to procedure. You must wait 24 hours before resuming use. Please bring glasses for your appointment.  

Additional waiting periods:  

• Have received Lasik or cataract surgery. PMU cannot be performed one month before or 3 months after surgery
• Have used Latisse or any eyelash boosting. Waiting period is 4 weeks.
• Have a Stye or Chalazion. Waiting period is 2 weeks from time of healing. 
• Conditions that require medical clearance from a doctor include: Glaucoma, Grave’s Disease, Blepharitis, or an eye opening lift

Before your Areola service or scar camouflage  

• You must be at least 6 months post beast reconstructive surgery. You must be cleared by your surgeon before areola tattooing.  
• Scar must be 18 months old & lighter than the surrounding skin in order to be camouflaged
